What the statewide pattern does—and does not—tell you

Repeated guidance can reveal a common state calendar, but a county notice, local ordinance, installment schedule, or special program can still control an individual property. The entries below are shown only when the same reviewed wording appears in at least two Colorado records.

Payment timing

Appears in 36 records

For 2026 property taxes payable in 2027: taxes are due January 1, 2027; amounts over $25 may be paid in two equal installments, with the first half due by February 28, 2027 and the second half by June 15, 2027, or paid in full by April 30, 2027. Colorado county treasurers apply delinquent interest after the applicable deadline; a statutory weekend/holiday adjustment may apply.

Assessment protest

Appears in 8 records

May 1 through June 8, 2026 for 2026 real-property valuation protests; the written/oral protest must be received or postmarked by June 8.

Exemption filing

Appears in 28 records

July 15, 2026 for the Colorado Senior Homestead Property Tax Exemption application; the county assessor administers the application. Qualifying senior owners generally must be 65+ on January 1, own and occupy the primary residence, and satisfy the 10-year ownership/occupancy rule.
