Tax bills & filing dates
These are the dates and qualifications recorded in the directory. Confirm your tax year and current deadline with the official office and your property’s notice.
- Tax bill mailing
- By January 28, 2027; El Paso County states tax statements must be mailed by January 28.
- Payment deadline
- For 2026 property taxes payable in 2027: taxes are due January 1, 2027; amounts over $25 may be paid in two equal installments, with the first half due by February 28, 2027 and the second half by June 15, 2027, or paid in full by April 30, 2027. Colorado county treasurers apply delinquent interest after the applicable deadline; a statutory weekend/holiday adjustment may apply.

- May 1 through June 8, 2026 for real-property classification/valuation objections; personal-property objections run June 15 through June 30, 2026.

- 0.7315% total real-property tax rate shown in the official El Paso County statement explanation; parcel tax rates vary by taxing district, so this is not a single countywide effective average.

July 15, 2026 for the El Paso County Senior Property Tax Exemption; late applications may be accepted through August 15 without appeal rights.
Senior relief
El Paso County's Senior Exemption generally requires age 65+ as of January 1, ownership and primary-residence occupancy for at least 10 consecutive years, and provides 50% of the first $200,000 of actual value exempted. Qualifying disabled veterans and Gold Star spouses have separate programs.
