- Payment deadline
- For 2026 property taxes payable in 2027: taxes are due January 1, 2027; amounts over $25 may be paid in two equal installments, with the first half due by February 28, 2027 and the second half by June 15, 2027, or paid in full by April 30, 2027. Colorado county treasurers apply delinquent interest after the applicable deadline; a statutory weekend/holiday adjustment may apply.

- May 4 through June 8, 2026; Costilla's official public notice states objections begin May 4 and must be filed no later than June 8.

July 15, 2026 for the Colorado Senior Homestead Property Tax Exemption application; the county assessor administers the application. Qualifying senior owners generally must be 65+ on January 1, own and occupy the primary residence, and satisfy the 10-year ownership/occupancy rule.
Senior relief
Colorado Senior Homestead Exemption: qualifying senior (generally age 65+ as of January 1) who owned and occupied the primary residence for at least 10 consecutive years; 50% of the first $200,000 of actual value is exempt. Surviving spouses and qualifying disabled veterans may have separate eligibility. Applications are due July 15; the program is subject to state funding/law.
