Payment deadline
June 10 and November 10, 2026 for the first and second halves of real-estate taxes; a 10% late penalty is added June 11 and November 11, respectively.
Assessment appeal
Thirty calendar days from receipt of the reassessment value-change notice to file with the Assessment Office; a subsequent Board of Equalization process and Circuit Court appeal are available under Virginia law.

$0.69 per $100 of assessed value for 2026 real estate.

Senior relief

Wise County provides local real-estate tax relief for owners age 65+ or permanently and totally disabled who meet income and asset limits; the current county FAQ describes relief of up to $300, while the linked program PDF describes up to $200 and annual filing.

Valuation limits

No general local annual valuation cap verified. Wise County states Virginia law requires real estate to be assessed at 100% fair market value; senior/disabled relief and land-use assessment are separate programs.
