Tax bill mailing
First-half 2026 bills were mailed by June 4, 2026; no specific second-half mailing date published.
Payment deadline
June 15, 2026 for the first half (June 5 falls on a weekend); December 7, 2026 for the second half (December 5 falls on a weekend).
Assessment appeal
For 2026 value-change notices, appeal to the Assessor by the date printed on the notice; the official page does not publish one universal date. Circuit Court appeal is available under Virginia law.
Rate information
$0.53 per $100 of assessed value for calendar tax year 2026.

Exemption filing

April 1, 2026 for the annual Elderly and Handicapped Real Estate Tax Deferral application.

Senior relief

Madison offers annual real-estate-tax deferral for qualifying owners age 65+ or permanently and totally disabled; the program covers the dwelling, one acre, and up to two adjacent acres subject to income/net-worth and occupancy rules.

Valuation limits

No general valuation cap verified. Madison conducts a general reassessment every six years; the 2025 reassessment remains effective until the next general reassessment, with construction and parcel changes assessed under the model.
