Exemption filing

April 1, 2026 for the Augusta Tax Relief for Elderly filing, per the official 2026 tax calendar.

Senior relief

Augusta offers a real-estate Tax Relief for Elderly program; the official 2026 calendar lists April 1 as the filing deadline. Contact Commissioner of Revenue at 540-245-5647.

Valuation limits

No general Virginia annual valuation cap was verified. Virginia local real estate is assessed at 100% of fair market value under Code of Virginia §58.1-3201; eligible agricultural, horticultural, forest, or open-space land may receive local-use valuation, and qualifying veteran/surviving-spouse exemptions are separate from a cap.
