These are the dates and qualifications recorded in the directory. Confirm your tax year and current deadline with the official office and your property’s notice.

Tax bill mailing
Usually early August 2026; Kent County says bills are sent after school districts finalize rates, typically in early August (the FAQ says usually by mid-August).
Payment deadline
September 30, 2026; Kent County's full annual property-tax payment is due September 30.
Assessment appeal
Annual assessment appeals must be received in writing by January 31, 2027 at 5:00 p.m. (or the last working day of January if January 31 is a weekend); supplemental assessment appeals are due within 30 days of notice.
Rate information
Approximately 0.3602%-0.5928% of assessed value for the published 2025-2026 total-rate range by Kent County school district; the current official rate chart is district-specific, not one countywide effective rate.

Exemptions & appeals

Exemption filing

April 30, 2026 for the county elderly/disability exemption application before the 2026-2027 tax year; applicants must satisfy the income, residency, ownership, and tax-clearance requirements published by Kent County.

Senior relief

Kent County's elderly exemption generally covers residents age 65+ by May 31, primary-residence owners, and qualifying disabled residents. The county page states Delaware residency for the prior five years, one-year primary-residence occupancy, income limits of $18,000 single or $24,750 married (excluding specified Social Security/Railroad benefits), and annual reapplication for the county exemption; a separate State Senior School Property Tax Credit is administered through the county.
