Exemptions & appeals
View exemption application (opens in a new tab)Senior relief
A 2026 Real Estate Tax Relief Application is published by Sussex County; the current FAQ says elderly relief requires a Board of Supervisors ordinance, so specific senior eligibility and award terms should be confirmed with the Commissioner.
Valuation limits
No general local annual valuation cap verified. Virginia real estate is assessed at 100% fair-market value under applicable state law; qualifying land-use and relief programs are separate from a valuation cap.
For a valuation appeal, use the appeal date in the tax and filing section above. Keep your notice, supporting evidence, and proof of submission.
