Bills are mailed approximately 30 days before each quarterly due date; no separate 2026 mailing dates were published.
Payment deadline
September 30, December 31, March 31, and June 30 each fiscal year; the city's quarterly 2026 schedule uses these recurring dates.
Rate information
$1.30 per $100 of assessed value; the FY2026 adopted budget also provided a $0.06-per-$100 real-estate tax relief credit on quarterly bills.

Senior relief

Portsmouth's Senior Citizens Tax Relief program has two components designed to reduce or freeze real-estate tax liability for qualified elderly and/or disabled homeowners; the Department of Social Services administers the program and the reviewed sources did not publish the final 2026 income and asset thresholds.

Valuation limits

Portsmouth evaluates real property annually at fair market value as of July 1 of the tax year; no general local annual valuation cap was verified.
