Jefferson Parish's official assessor states that the $7,500 assessed-value homestead exemption is permanent while the owner occupies the home. A qualifying owner age 65+ or qualifying disabled owner/surviving spouse may receive a Special Assessment Level assessed-value freeze subject to annually changing income rules; the freeze does not freeze millage and can be affected by construction exceeding 25%.
