Tennessee has no general homeowner homestead exemption. For tax year 2026, first-time Greenbelt applications are due March 15, 2026; State Board of Equalization property-tax exemption applications are generally due May 20, 2026; and state Tax Relief/Tax Freeze applications are filed with the county Trustee. Senior relief
The Sequatchie County Trustee administers Tennessee Property Tax Relief for qualifying elderly and disabled homeowners, disabled veterans, and surviving spouses. The official 2026 Comptroller participating-jurisdiction list does not list Sequatchie County as a countywide local-option Property Tax Freeze county; confirm current eligibility with the Trustee.
Valuation limits
No general Tennessee individual assessed-value cap was verified. Tennessee uses periodic reappraisal and certified-tax-rate/revenue-neutral rules; Greenbelt present-use valuation and any qualifying local senior Property Tax Freeze are separate protections.
