Exemption filing

April 1, 2026; Maine homestead applications must be filed with the municipality where the property is located, and a late application applies to the subsequent assessment year.

Senior relief

Maine State Property Tax Deferral Program: the 2026 filing period was January 1-April 1, 2026, for eligible homeowners age 65+ or qualifying disabled homeowners; municipalities may also adopt senior deferral programs under 36 M.R.S. chapter 908-A.
