Tax bill mailing
Late August or early September 2026; Newton County's official July 2026 notice says 2026 bills are expected in that window.
Payment deadline
November 15, 2026; Newton County officially moved the property-tax deadline to November 15 beginning with tax year 2026.
Assessment appeal
45 days from the mailing date of the notice of assessment; the appeal is filed with the county Board of Tax Assessors and must be postmarked by that deadline.

Exemption filing

April 1, 2026; the official Newton County tax information states personal-property returns are due by April 1 and Georgia's current-year exemption deadline is April 1.

Senior relief

Georgia's statewide relief includes a $4,000 county ad valorem exemption for qualifying homeowners age 65+ with prior-year income below the statutory limit, a school-tax exemption for qualifying owners age 62+, and a floating inflation-proof county homestead exemption for qualifying owners age 62+ with household income below the statutory limit. Local amounts and eligibility must be confirmed with the county tax office.
