These are the dates and qualifications recorded in the directory. Confirm your tax year and current deadline with the official office and your property’s notice.
- Tax bill mailing
- November 2026; Highlands' official Tax Collector page states tax notices are mailed in November, but did not publish an exact 2026 mailing date.
- Payment deadline
- March 31, 2027; 2026 real-property taxes must be paid by March 31, 2027 to avoid becoming delinquent April 1, 2027.

March 2, 2026; Highlands' official filing rule states March 1, and March 1, 2026 falls on Sunday; late filing follows the statutory post-TRIM window.
Senior relief
Highlands County has adopted an additional senior homestead exemption of up to $15,000 for qualifying owners age 65+ whose household income is within the annually adjusted limit; it applies only to the county commission levy, not school, water-management, or municipal taxes.
Valuation limits
Highlands' official exemption page states qualifying homestead assessed value increases are limited to the lesser of 3% or CPI; the Florida Department of Revenue published a 2.7% 2026 cap.
