Exemptions & appeals

Exemption filing

December 31, 2025 for a 2026 assessment-year Senior/Disabled exemption under the Washington application schedule; Wahkiakum County requires the application and proof of income to be returned to the Assessor.

Senior relief

Wahkiakum County administers Washington's Senior Citizens and People with Disabilities exemption and deferral programs for qualifying residents; eligibility depends on household income, age or disability, ownership, and occupancy. The county provides the application and required-document links here: https://www.co.wahkiakum.wa.us/405/Helpful-Info-Forms-and-Links

Valuation limits

Washington has no individual parcel assessed-value cap. County assessors value property at 100% of true and fair market value; regular taxing-district levy revenue is generally limited to a 1% annual increase plus new construction under RCW 84.55, subject to voter-approved lid lifts and other statutory rules. The 1% constitutional levy limit constrains aggregate regular levies, not an individual parcel's value.

For a valuation appeal, use the appeal date in the tax and filing section above. Keep your notice, supporting evidence, and proof of submission.
