Exemptions & appeals

Exemption filing

April 30, 2026 is the Washington senior/disabled property-tax exemption deadline; Benton County's official forms page provides the Senior Citizen and People with Disabilities application.

Senior relief

Benton County administers the RCW 84.36.381 senior/disabled exemption for qualifying owners age 61+, disabled persons, or qualifying surviving spouses, on a principal residence and up to one acre; the county FAQ lists income up to $40,000 and says renewal is generally every six years.

Valuation limits

Washington's 1% limit applies to taxing-district revenue, not individual assessed values. Benton County assesses at 100% of fair market value; a parcel's value may rise more or less than 1% even when a district's levy growth is limited.

For a valuation appeal, use the appeal date in the tax and filing section above. Keep your notice, supporting evidence, and proof of submission.
