Exemption filing

April 1, 2026 for the annual Tax Relief for the Elderly and Disabled application.

Senior relief

Cumberland relief is available to owners age 65+ or permanently and totally disabled who occupy the property as their sole dwelling. Combined household income may not exceed $30,000 and net worth may not exceed $100,000 excluding the home and one acre; annual relief is capped at $500.

Valuation limits

No general annual valuation cap verified; Virginia law requires local real-estate assessments at 100% of fair-market value. Local land-use and tax-relief programs may reduce taxable value but are not valuation caps.

For a valuation appeal, use the appeal date in the tax and filing section above. Keep your notice, supporting evidence, and proof of submission.
