These are the dates and qualifications recorded in the directory. Confirm your tax year and current deadline with the official office and your property’s notice.
- Payment deadline
- 2026 Sumner County property taxes are due October 5, 2026 (the first Monday in October) through February 28, 2027; unpaid taxes accrue interest beginning March 1, 2027.
- Assessment appeal
- Sumner County informal property reviews run May 4–29, 2026; the County Board of Equalization convenes June 1, 2026, and the last day to make an appointment is June 12, 2026. State appeal deadline is August 1, 2026 or 45 days after notice, whichever is later.

Tennessee has no general homeowner homestead property-tax exemption. For tax year 2026, first-time Greenbelt applications are due March 15, 2026; State Board of Equalization property-tax exemption applications are generally due May 20, 2026; and state Tax Relief/Tax Freeze applications are filed with the county Trustee. Senior relief
Sumner County participates in Tennessee's local-option Property Tax Freeze program. The 2026 Comptroller standard/local-option income limit is $48,550; the county Trustee administers Tax Relief and Tax Freeze for qualifying elderly, disabled, disabled-veteran, and surviving-spouse homeowners. Apply through the Trustee; Sumner County says applications are due no later than 35 days after the February payment deadline.
Valuation limits
No general Tennessee individual assessed-value cap was verified. Sumner County's official Assessor says its last reappraisal was 2024 and the next is scheduled for 2029; Tennessee certified-tax-rate/revenue-neutral rules and Greenbelt are separate protections.
