Exemptions & appeals
View exemption application (opens in a new tab)Exemption filing
Tennessee has no general homeowner homestead exemption. For tax year 2026, first-time Greenbelt applications are due March 15, 2026; State Board of Equalization property-tax exemption applications are due May 20, 2026; and state Tax Relief/Tax Freeze applications are filed with the county Trustee, generally by 35 days after the local tax delinquency date.
Senior relief
2026 Tennessee Property Tax Relief is available through the County Trustee to qualifying low-income elderly and disabled homeowners, disabled veterans, and surviving spouses; it is a state reimbursement, not a general exemption. The Comptroller lists Perry County as adopting the local-option Property Tax Freeze in 2026 with a 2026 income limit of $60,000. Apply annually through the Trustee and meet the age, principal-residence, ownership, and income rules.
Valuation limits
No general Tennessee individual assessed-value cap was verified. The county is governed by Tennessee's periodic reappraisal and certified-tax-rate/revenue-neutral framework; Greenbelt present-use valuation and any qualifying senior Property Tax Freeze are separate protections.
