Exemption filing

Most Jasper County special-assessment and exemption applications for 2026 must be filed by January 15, 2027, the first penalty date; the individual county form controls if it states another deadline.

Senior relief

South Carolina Homestead Exemption: the first $50,000 of fair-market value of the legal residence is exempt for a qualifying homeowner who is at least 65 by December 31 preceding the tax year, totally and permanently disabled, legally blind, or a qualifying surviving spouse; apply through the county auditor with proof of age, residency, or disability.

Valuation limits

South Carolina Real Property Valuation Reform Act: taxable-value growth is generally limited to 15% over five years at countywide reassessment. The cap is generally removed for an assessable transfer of interest and does not cover new construction, additions, or improvements; owner-occupied legal residences use the 4% assessment ratio and other real property generally uses 6%.

For a valuation appeal, use the appeal date in the tax and filing section above. Keep your notice, supporting evidence, and proof of submission.
