Exemptions & appeals

Exemption filing

Oregon has no general homestead exemption. For the 2026–27 Senior and Disabled Citizens Property Tax Deferral, applications are generally filed after January 1 and by April 15, 2026; late filing may be available through December 1 with a county fee. Other statutory exemptions have different deadlines.

Senior relief

Oregon Senior and Disabled Citizens Property Tax Deferral: qualifying homeowners age 62 or older by April 15, 2026, or qualifying disabled homeowners, may defer 2026–27 property taxes if ownership, principal-residence, income, and other statutory requirements are met. The Oregon Department of Revenue pays the county and records a lien with interest. Valuation limits

Oregon Measure 50 / ORS 308.146 generally limits maximum assessed value growth to 3% per year and assessed value cannot exceed real market value; exceptions include new property, improvements, partition/subdivision, changes in use or status, disqualification from exemption or special assessment, and other statutory events. Measure 5 separately limits tax rates based on real market value.

For a valuation appeal, use the appeal date in the tax and filing section above. Keep your notice, supporting evidence, and proof of submission.
