Exemptions & appeals

Exemption filing

Oregon has no general homestead exemption. For the 2026-27 senior/disabled property-tax deferral, file with the county assessor after January 1 and by April 15, 2026; late filing is allowed April 16 through December 1 with a county late fee. Qualifying disabled-veteran exemption applications are generally due April 1, 2026; other statutory exemptions can have different deadlines.

Senior relief

Oregon Senior and Disabled Property Tax Deferral: eligible homeowners age 62 or older by April 15, 2026, or qualifying disabled homeowners, with a qualifying principal residence, ownership, income, and other statutory requirements, may defer 2026-27 property taxes. The Oregon Department of Revenue pays the county and records a lien with interest. Apply after January 1 by April 15, 2026, or late April 16-December 1 with a county fee. Valuation limits

Oregon Constitution Measure 50 generally limits maximum assessed value (MAV) to the greater of 103% of the prior year's assessed value or 100% of the prior year's MAV; taxable assessed value is the lesser of real market value and MAV. Exceptions include new construction, improvements, partition/subdivision, changes in use or status, and other statutory events; Measure 5 separately limits tax rates based on real market value.

For a valuation appeal, use the appeal date in the tax and filing section above. Keep your notice, supporting evidence, and proof of submission.
