Exemptions & appeals

Exemption filing

December 31, 2026 for the 2026 real-property application; Huron County's 2026 notice says late applications for the prior tax year are accepted and directs applicants to the Auditor's office or website.

Senior relief

Huron County's 2026 notice: age 65 by December 31, 2026, or permanently and totally disabled as of January 1, 2026; own and occupy the home as primary residence January 1; 2025 Ohio MAGI must not exceed $41,000. Enhanced disabled-veteran relief is also available.

Valuation limits

No general countywide parcel-value cap published. Ohio HB 920 reduction factors and the 10-mill limitation prevent voted levies from increasing revenue solely because of revaluation; HB 186, effective March 20, 2026, adds an automatic Inflation Cap Credit to qualifying 2025 tax-year bills payable in 2026 when eligible school-tax growth exceeds inflation.

For a valuation appeal, use the appeal date in the tax and filing section above. Keep your notice, supporting evidence, and proof of submission.
