Payment deadline
September 1, 2026; payable at face amount without interest through January 5, 2027; interest begins January 6, 2027 at 2% for the first month, then 0.75% per month under N.C.G.S. §105-360.

Exemption filing

June 1, 2026 for North Carolina elderly/disabled, disabled-veteran, and circuit-breaker relief applications; Haywood County's 2026 exemption materials direct applicants to the Assessor's Office.

Senior relief

North Carolina 2026 homestead relief: owner age 65+ or totally and permanently disabled may exclude the greater of $25,000 or 50% of the permanent-residence assessed value with household income no more than $38,800; the circuit-breaker deferment applies through $58,200 income and limits tax to 4% or 5% of income, with deferred taxes becoming a lien; qualifying disabled veterans may exclude up to $45,000. Applications are filed with the county by June 1, 2026.

Valuation limits

No general local parcel-value cap verified. Haywood County says the last countywide revaluation was 2021 and the county is on a four-year revaluation cycle; North Carolina true-value and present-use-value rules apply.
