May 26, 2026 (fourth Tuesday in May) is the standard New York Board of Assessment Review grievance day; alternate dates may apply by municipality, so confirm with the local assessor.

Exemption filing

March 1, 2026 for local senior, disability, veteran, and other exemption applications; Chautauqua County municipal guidance confirms eligible homeowners must apply by March 1.

Senior relief

2026 Enhanced STAR: primary residence, one resident owner age 65+ by December 31, and combined income of resident owners and resident spouses of $110,750 or less. Basic STAR income limits are $500,000 for the credit and $250,000 for the exemption. The local senior-citizens exemption may reduce assessed value by up to 50%, subject to the municipality's income limit; apply through the local assessor.
