These are the dates and qualifications recorded in the directory. Confirm your tax year and current deadline with the official office and your property’s notice.
- Tax bill mailing
- Usually mailed in late October 2026 under Montana DOR guidance; no specific county mailing date was published.
- Payment deadline
- Tax year 2026 Montana real-property taxes: first payment due by 5:00 p.m. November 30, 2026; second payment due by 5:00 p.m. May 31, 2027. If a due date falls on a weekend or holiday, the next business day applies; county notice/postmark rules also apply.
- Assessment appeal
- Submit Montana DOR Form AB-26 within 30 days of the date on the 2025–2026 classification and appraisal notice. If that deadline was missed, the 2026 fallback informal-review deadline was June 1, 2026; formal appeals may proceed to the Montana Tax Appeal Board. Valuation limits
No county-specific annual assessed-value cap was verified. Montana DOR administers the 2025–2026 reappraisal cycle and local treasurers apply locally adopted mill levies and special assessments. The Montana homestead reduced tax rate is a rate reduction, not a county assessed-value cap.
For a valuation appeal, use the appeal date in the tax and filing section above. Keep your notice, supporting evidence, and proof of submission.
