Payment deadline
For the 2026 tax year, Missouri real-estate and personal-property taxes are due December 31, 2026; payment must be received or postmarked by December 31 to avoid statutory penalty and interest.
Assessment appeal
July 13, 2026 (Lawrence County’s official 2026 county site lists this as the last day to file an assessment valuation appeal; the Board of Equalization was scheduled to meet July 20, 2026); Missouri State Tax Commission complaint is due September 30, 2026, or within 30 days after the Board decision, whichever is later.

Exemptions & appeals

Exemption filing

No general Missouri homestead exemption was verified. 2026 personal-property assessment lists are generally due March 1, 2026; late filing can incur the statutory penalty.

Senior relief

Lawrence County Senior Citizens Tax Credit: property owners age 62 or older may apply for a credit on their primary residence. The official 2026 application states a June 15, 2026 due date; the credit appears on the qualified taxpayer’s property-tax statement and applicants must reapply annually. Valuation limits

No general local annual valuation cap was verified. Lawrence County’s senior program credits eligible primary-residence tax liability above the applicable base amount; it does not cap the assessor’s market or assessed value. Missouri real property is generally reassessed in odd-numbered years with 19% residential, 32% commercial, and 12% agricultural assessment ratios.
