These are the dates and qualifications recorded in the directory. Confirm your tax year and current deadline with the official office and your property’s notice.
- Tax bill mailing
- November–December 2026; Mississippi DOR states tax bills are issued in November–December, but Jones County does not publish a specific mailing day.
- Payment deadline
- 2026 tax-year property taxes are due by February 1, 2027; if February 1 falls on a weekend or legal holiday, payment is due the next working day without interest; Mississippi permits installment payments with at least one-half due by February 1.
- Assessment appeal
- First Monday of August 2026 (August 3, 2026), normally before the county Board of Supervisors; county-specific notice time was not published.

January 1 through April 1, 2026, in the county Tax Assessor's office; the owner must own and occupy the home as a primary residence on January 1; reapply after qualifying ownership, use, occupancy, or status changes.
Senior relief
Mississippi DOR Tier 2: eligible homeowners age 65 or older or totally disabled by January 1, 2026 are exempt from taxes on the first $7,500 of assessed homestead value with proof; Tier 3 can provide a total exemption for qualifying service-connected totally disabled veterans and qualifying surviving spouses, subject to current law.
