These are the dates and qualifications recorded in the directory. Confirm your tax year and current deadline with the official office and your property’s notice.

Payment deadline
2026 tax-year property taxes are due by February 1, 2027; if February 1 falls on a weekend or legal holiday, payment is due the next working day without interest; Mississippi permits installment payments with at least one-half due by February 1.
Assessment appeal
July 20–31, 2026: the official Jackson County page identifies the last two weeks of July as the property-valuation protest period; Mississippi's normal Board of Supervisors appeal deadline is August 3, 2026.

Exemptions & appeals

Exemption filing

January 1 through April 1, 2026; Jackson County lists April 1 as the homestead exemption filing deadline and accepts applications through its Homestead department.

Senior relief

Mississippi DOR Tier 2: eligible homeowners age 65 or older or totally disabled by January 1, 2026 are exempt from taxes on the first $7,500 of assessed homestead value with proof; Tier 3 can provide a total exemption for qualifying service-connected totally disabled veterans and qualifying surviving spouses, subject to current law.
