These are the dates and qualifications recorded in the directory. Confirm your tax year and current deadline with the official office and your property’s notice.

Payment deadline
First-half property taxes are due December 20, 2026; second-half taxes are due May 10, 2027. Chautauqua County states interest begins December 21 for real property and no second-half statements are mailed.
Assessment appeal
File an equalization appeal with the county appraiser within 30 days of the March 1, 2026 valuation-notice mailing; the county-specific notice date controls.

Exemption filing

April 15, 2026, for 2025 Kansas Homestead, SAFESR, or K-40SVR property-tax relief claims.

Senior relief

Kansas SAFESR (K-40PT) may refund 75% of timely paid principal-residence property tax for qualifying homeowners age 65+ with 2025 household income of $25,380 or less and a home valued at no more than $350,000; Kansas also offers K-40SVR relief for qualifying seniors and disabled veterans.
